Keynote Speaker: Walt Bennett
The Church today has turned in on itself. The average Christian shows up for services (sometimes), but expects that the pastor or gifted evangelists will be fulfilling the great commission. How do we turn this around? How do we begin to build a culture within the church that engages every Christian in not just reaching out with food, clothing and other physical needs - but reaching out with the Gospel and the love of Christ in ways that are natural and powerful?
In his role as Executive Pastor for organic Outreatch International, Walt Bennett leads a team that is engaged with pastors, and denominational leaders around the world, teaching and coaching on changing the culture of Church to more effectively reach the lost. He also serves as a pastor at Shoreline Church in Monterey California. Walt has enjoyed a broad career path including roles as a chef, submariner, woodworker, physics teacher, and insurance company executive and is a nationally certified EMT. He left the corporate world to join the Shoreline team in 2016. Walt received a B.S. in Math, Engineering, Physics, and Psychology from Regents College and an MA in Teaching from Seattle Pacific University. He feels blessed to be in a position where he can bring all of his past experiences to bear in growing God's kingdom. In his free time, Walt enjoys kayaking in Monterey Bay, cooking for friends and family and crossword puzzles. Walt and his wife Liz have three children, Hannah and Will who live with them on the Monterey Peninsula, and an adult son, Stefan, living with his wife Katie in Seattle.
