Dr. Woodie Stevens has been appointed interim Michigan District Superintendent for the Michigan District as of April 1, 2020.  General Superintendent David Graves made the appointment in consultation with the Michigan District Advisory Council, USA/Canada Regional Director Bob Broadbooks, and the Board of General Superintendents.

Richelle Martzke has been the Executive Assistant since October 2013.  She grew up in the Grand Ledge area and has worked in various ministries within her church.  She especially loves working with children.

 

Richelle married Steve in 1989.  They have 4 adult children, Gretchen (Jon), Corinne (Cody), Kara (JL) & Reid.  She loves camping, being a grandma and spending time with her family.

Deidre Marks has been the Business Manager since March 2014.  She graduated with a bachelors in Business Administration with a Management concentration from Spring Arbor University in 2003.  She has served in an administrative ministry role in the Church of the Nazarene for 17 years.  She loves to travel with her family and explore new places.  She is passionate about people and their connection with God, each other, and the church.

Nick Highland has been the pastor at Grand Ledge Church of the Nazarene since March 2017, and became the District Secretary of the Michigan District in September 2019.  He holds a BA in Theology and Ministry from Southern Nazarene University and a MA in Pastoral Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University. 

 

Nick is married to Carmen, and they have four children, Kade, Raelynn, Thea and Colette.  They enjoy camping, travel and family adventures.  


NYI President

Travis Myers has been the District NYI president since 2010 and currently serves at the Lansing South Church of the Nazarene as Pastor to families with youth.   He has a passion for youth and strives for the youth to grow in their relationship with Christ and in community with each other through summer camps, district lock-ins, celebrate life, quizzing, and district impact team. 

 

He is married to Jesi and has 3 children Sage, Clayton, and Brooklynn.  He loves to spend time with family whether camping, boating, or playing games.  

NMI President

Karla Hurt

Karla Hurt was elected District NMI president in July 2018.  She lives in Portage, Michigan with her husband, Keith, and they are involved in ministry at Cross Community Church in Portage, Michigan.  Karla works in Kalamazoo at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.  


They have 2 adult children. Their daughter, Katrina, is married to Tyler Hull and is an Oregon high school math teacher.  Tyler is studying electrical engineering in addition to having a business and marketing degree.  Their son, Keegan joined the Air Force and is a Senior Airman who is stationed overseas. 


Karla marvels at God’s nature, enjoys reading, creating crafts. She is passionate about missions throughout the world.  She would love to hear what your church is doing to be the “hands and feet of Jesus” in your community and global missions!

SDMI PRESIDENT

Jeff Hodge

Jeff Hodge was elected District SDMI President in July 2019.    He lives in Nashville, Michigan with his wife, Tanett, along with his mother who they are caring for at home.  Jeff is the lead pastor at Nashville Church of the Nazarene.  


They have one adult daughter, Janessa, who lives in the area.  Jeff enjoys fishing at Indian Lake Nazarene Camp, camping, and hunting. 


He is passionate about the church's mission and call to discipleship and the importance of establishing healthy mentoring relationship within the church body.
