“From
the President’s Heart”
“Prayer”
As I look around
and ponder what this past fiscal year has brought
the Michigan District, I am slightly saddened and
yet encouraged at the same time. I have watched
young people stepping up to the plate and taking the
reigns in churches across the district anxious to
lead the church into new realms of worship and
discipleship. Their enthusiasm and excitement
should challenge us to get on board and keep up in
spite of the differences in our ages and ideas.
Remember, it’s not about us or them, but about God
and His kingdom work.
However, I have
noticed a change in one area of great concern; the
matter of Prayer. Our prayer warriors are going on
to be with Jesus. Have we taught our young people
to pray? Have we taught them to intercede on behalf
of missionaries and the preaching of the Gospel of
Jesus? Does your church have an active prayer
ministry that meets regularly? Did you know there
are Nazarene churches that don’t have prayer
meetings any more? Do you remember the days of
praying on our knees until God moved and then
praying more to praise Him for what He does? Have
you passed that torch on to the next generation? Do
they pray for the work of the kingdom?
There is a Prayer
Summit for Pastors at ONU in June and a special
Prayer Conference for Women in October. Do you
think we need prayer? Does it matter?
ABSOLUTELY!! Without prayer we fall short of the
goal ahead of us. We can do nothing without God,
and we must talk to Him if we expect help. Start
now if you haven’t already, to teach your young
people and children the power of prayer. My seven
year-old granddaughter believes in the power of
prayer and knows God hears and answers. Let us
become so convinced of the power of prayer that it
is not only something we do but the
FIRST thing
we do.
God can do anything but fail. All we have to do is
ASK.

Is a fantastic group from
Olivet Nazarene University
coming to our district to
lead worship at our combined
N.Y.I.
and
N.M.I.
service. The service is on
FRIDAY NIGHT, July 20th, 7:00
pm.
During this awesome
service, we will hear from a guest speaker
that lives in a
creative access
country. A
creative access
country is a place where
Christians are persecuted
for their beliefs. It is a
place where Christianity is
NOT ALLOWED
to be preached. Join us for
this wonderful time of singing, praise, and
teaching.
Sponsored by
Nazarene Youth International
and
Nazarene Missions
International.

Every year we put booklets together to
assist you throughout the year with
information, resources, and contacts. We
need sponsors to help cover the cost of the
booklets. Last year only two companies
stepped forward and said they would support
our booklets and place their advertisement
in the back. This year we would like to
defray at least 50% of the cost of the
booklets. Please contact local businesses
around your church that might want to
sponsor a 1/2 page for $50 or a full page
for $100. We could really use your help.
If you have any questions, please feel free
to contact Mark Baker at 517/414-0267 or use
his email at nmipubsecretary@minaz.org. |

Missionary Needs:
Each
month we want to post special requests for our
missionaries in this corner. Maybe you have the
resources, maybe you want to pray, maybe you know
someone with the resources. Contact Linda Newvine
for ways that you can help.
Dear Friends,
We
thank you for your prayers for us here in Romania
and the support and encouragement you have been for
us over the years. We wanted to let you know that
we are leaving Romania on June 12 to return to
Canada for a time. We have been called to pastor
the Church of the Nazarene in Brampton, Ontario. We
begin there on June 24. We appreciate your prayers
for our girls as they are dealing with lots of
emotions about leaving Europe where they have grown
up. We also ask you to continue to pray for our
Romanian colleagues here and the new missionary
family that will replace us this summer. Thank you
for your prayers for Tamara's father who continues
to battle cancer. We are so thankful to the Lord
for this opportunity to be closer to family during
this difficult time.
With our love and prayers,

will soon be returning to their assignment. Keep
their family and their safety on the forefront of
your mind.
Please pray for the people in Australia. There is a
severe drought that is affecting everybody. Pray
that our church can lead and assist people through
this difficult time.
Please pray for the General Superintendents as they
travel throughout the world to attend conferences
and assemblies. Pray for their safety and wisdom to
lead the Church in the 21st century.
