This year the money raised through the Dr. John Seaman Memorial 5K will be used to purchase fishing equipment for two African villages in Sao Tome. Sao Tome is a fishery and agricultural zone where there is great poverty, alcoholism, and prostitution. There is a high unemployment rate, and even those who have jobs are paid very little which has a negative impact on their standard of living.
The goal of the 5K is to help in the fight against poverty in the community, especially the most deprived, to reduce the number of unemployed in the area and, to support the needy with projects of social impact, particularly in the Church. This project will provide jobs for more than 30 people which in turn will benefit over 400 people.
By participating in this 5K you have the opportunity to impact lives for generation to come!
