Illinois-based Olivet Nazarene University and Shine.FM Radio expand into Michigan:  Host "An Evening to Remember and Ribbon-Cutting Event

East Lansing, Michigan ” On Monday, January 12, 2015, an invitation-only event was co-hosted by Olivet Nazarene University's School of Graduate and Continuing Studies (SGCS) and Shine.FM, a Christian radio ministry of ONU at MSU's Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center.

"An Evening to Remember welcomed Lansing area ONU alumni, state government officials, community leaders and Lansing Regional Chamber professionals for a night of networking, food and entertainment. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially marking the launch of Shine.FM ” 95.3 FM in the Lansing market ” and ONU's expansion of its presence with the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies in Michigan.

Dr. John Bowling, Dr. Brian Allen and Dr. Ryan Spittal shared the podium with Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, and Lansing Regional Chamber President & CEO Tim Daman.  Shine.FM General Manager Brian Utter and Executive Director of the Global Campus, Dr. Rob Simpson, emceed the event.  Nazarene Michigan District Superintendent Dr. John Seaman gave the invocation.

Highlights of the evening included remarks by the Lt. Governor reiterating enthusiastic support of Olivet Nazarene University choosing to step out of the box and meet the needs of Michigan's business and industry by offering something unique and different than the plethora of other large and small Michigan based universities.  In particular, Olivet's choice to join the Pyramid Campus STEAM project being redeveloped by the Inno-Versity Group supports Governor Rick Snyder's education initiatives.

Dr. Simpson explains: "ONU has developed an expansion initiative which seeks strategic growth opportunities that align with the university's academic strengths. Our degrees in engineering, nursing, applied science, education and business make us a great partner here in Michigan as companies strive to meet their human resource growth needs.

The combined efforts of Shine.FM and Olivet's School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, will make significant impact on the City of Lansing and greater Michigan by equipping communities through inspiring broadcasting and strong academic programs.
